Sarkar Ayatollah Aga Syed Mehdi

His EminenceSarkar Ayatollah Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA)

Before throwing light on the Biography of EsteemedSarkarAga Syed Mehdi Mousavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) it is necessary to throw light on the Biography and family Background of Aga Mehdi Mosavi. He belonged to MoussawwiDynasty and from the series of offsprings of revered Saint Mir Syed Shams Din Iraqi(RA).

Before returning back to Kashmir and the circumstances when Ayatollah SarkarAga Syed Mehdi Mousavi al SafviNajafi(RA) returned were totally hostile as capitalists and vested interests were holding sway.Shawl industry was the lone employment sector in those times .Some of the Shawl Industrial units were owned by Shias as well and Shia labour used to be employed in them as Sunni brethren those days used to not employ Shia labourers .This also bred discrimination against Shia poor labourer class at the hands of their Capitalist bosses who used to even get home work done by them. The revolt and bloodshed of year 1830 had broken back of Shia labourers. On account of such abject poverty and tough conditions a number of shias had gone distant from religious obligations. During those times, A renowned Shia Scholar from Iran Aga Syed Ibrahim travelled to Kashmir and found that Shias known only conducting Hussani (AS) Majalis and were totally ignorant about other important aspects of religion.Aga Syed Ibrahim got sermons to be conducted in Zadibal and Gathering (Jamaat) prayers for Zuhar and Asar conducted. This created loss for selfish capitalists and they went to Maharaja to get Aga Syed Ibrahim deported back and began to devise dirty tricks and since they had no influence at Court of Maharaja thus they than in this regard took a delegation to revered personality Hakim Mohammad Azeem and took false oaths that if Aga Syed Ibrahim is not deported back Shias will deviate from their teachings. Sadly ,Esteemed Hakim trusted them and got Aga Syed Ibrahim deported from Kashmir and later Aga Syed Ibrahim famously remarked that “Shias of Kashmir know the name of Imam Hussain (AS) but sadly not Know Allah”.

Pertinently in those days Ansari Shia clerics had a tight grip over society and used to teach the children at homes and these facilities only capitalists can afford.Poor people were living in such miserable conditions that they were left to feed from hand to mouth and could not afford expenditure to get their children educated. Even when they sent their children to labour only than they can afford a meal.

Amidst all these trying circumstances, Esteemed Sarkar Ayatollah Aga SyedMehdi MousaviAl SafviNajafi (RA) was successful in reforming the society and fighting successfully against all odds through his spirituality and knowledge.

As a matter of fact, Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mousavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) was born in MozaMirgund Tehsil Budgam in a poor family . Your early education was completed from Srinagar and thanEsteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) went to Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh(INDIA) and Iraq to attain further education. After 28 years of attaining knowledge and wisdom in religious education in Najaf Sharif (Iraq) , Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) with a laurels and degree in “Ijithaad” came back to Kashmir.

Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mousavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) had a great pine for Islam which a religious scholar of your stature ought to had logically. Under the same spirit, you diverted your entire life to serve religion. Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) possessed high Knowledge, great wisdom, valuable ideas and ideals as a result of his sermons and speeches had great positive impact on people and people from distant areas came to listen Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA).

It were those times when on account of multiple reasons people had become distant from the teachings of religion of Islam and Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) loudly raised  lāilāha illā-llāhu in both urban and rural hinterlands and via sermons, speech and service taught masses the forgotten teachings of Islam.  In this regard, Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) got it sure that Nimaz(Prayer) is once again offered in Jamaat (Gathering) by masses and via his great efforts the call of prayers in Mosques became once again prominent and from everywhere the Azaan Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) came. Via your great teachings Sajada (Kneeling before Allah) became prominent and Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi MosaviAl SafviNajafi (RA) also took steps for distribution of Holy Mud of Karbala. Such was the positive impact of Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) that a youth raised Azaan (Call of Prayer ) at his house and her mother praised him for turning his house into mosque.

Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Moussawwi Al SafviNajafi (RA) gracefully fought the hardships of povertyand took a great care of the economic , social needs of poor and via Majalisand Gatherings showed complete solidarity with them and ate with them and tauht many Shia muslims Quran and trained many students.

Via his remarkable speeches and sermons, Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) greatly reformed the minds of poor towards betterment.Such was the impact that a rich man punished his servant for attending speeches and sermons of Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) and that rich man did not only beat but kept his servant in icy snowy water conditions but despite these tyrannies he did not leaving loving and attending sermons of Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA). As a result of great preaching and service of Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Moussawwi Al SafviNajafi (RA) Workers began to leave from their factories one or two hour earlier ffor listening sermons anod offering Jamaat Prayers (GATHERING Prayers) and thisdid not go well within selfish capitalists but via teachings of Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) began to recognize the temporary nature of this world and adopted ways of reforming themselves. Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) also preached to people that if they have the good financial condition than they cannot skip the obligation of performing the Hajj pilgrimagae and if they do so they will die as Nasari or jews and this had a deserved impact on masses.

Pertinently, EsteemedSarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) teached to masses great teachings, virtues, unity in diversity of Islam and made them feel that it is unIslamic to make distinction or discrimination on basis of rich and poor. He preached that before God all are equal and only that human is superior whose Faith, acts and deeds are great. As a result of great sermons and speeches of Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) people became god fearing and got filled with religious and moral enthusiasm as a result of this capitalist class got frustrated.

Pertinently, the frustration of capitalist class can be gauged from this episode that once a capitalist of Jalali family and a poor teacher Kazmi invited Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) for feast scheduled on same day but since poor man’s invitation had come first so Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) went to his feast and getting frustrated over this the capitalist class devised dirty tricks and created disturbances in his speeches and sermons and accordingly Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) was stopped from delivering sermons at Zadibal by these vested capitalist class.

The dirty tactics of capitalist class did not end here and they began to influence Aga Hakim Mehdo so that like Aga Ibrahim they could also get Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) deported back but they failed in these shameful attempts.

Since the Ansari class of clerics had close affinity towards capitalist class and they began to publish after these failed attempts that literature in which they used to castigate Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) without any logic and reason. They criticized Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) that he claimed himself the pioneer of Ijithaad which in no means was wrong as Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) had all the qualities to claim Ijithaad. These capitalist class via literature of propaganda spread many lies against Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) and even when his first book had gone to Lahore for publishing they began to claim that this is anti-Shia.There false literature also spread other lies that Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) was against mourning. Actually they could not match wisdom, humility, great character and love of poor masses towards Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA). Even his sons did not get the needed courage to get that stalled book published.

It was Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) who identified the grave of Mir Shams Din Iraqi (RA) in Budgam in 1880. Esteemed Sarkar Aga Syed Mehdi Mosavi Al SafviNajafi (RA) passed away in the holy month of Ramadan on 21 Ramadan in 1309 Hijri.
